How to auto backup photos on Samsung Galaxy S5

Google +'s auto backup feature could be the life saver when you accidentally delete files from your Galaxy S5, it allows you to backup photos and videos captured with the phone, downloaded from internet, saved by apps to its professionally maintained storage server, safe from local catastrophe

How to turn on/off auto backup on Google +

Open Google+ app on the Galaxy S5, Long press the capacitive multitask button to bring up the menu, click on settings > Auto Backup, toggle on/off auto backup.

By default the app will automatically backup photos and videos in the photos app when new file added to the library and the Wi-Fi is on.

The Google+ app in Galaxy S5 scans the phone's entire memory for images, videos of compatible format, sometimes it adds redundant files like internet image cache or movies to the library, it is quite unnecessary to backup these files considering though as generous as Google gets, you still have a quota of the cloud storage space.

To backup selected folders on the local memory.

Open thePhotos app > touch the Menu icon/button on the top left > Settings > Auto-Backup > tick or untick Back up local folders

Turning Auto-Backup on or off for individual folders

Open the Photos app > touch the Photos menu icon at the top left > On Device > to the right of each folder title, toggle the Cloud icon to turn Auto-Backup on or off for that folder:
